Join us for a day of powerful stories of triumph and redemption as we combine worship with authentic speakers and break out session leaders to create an environment of healing and grace. The theme for this year’s icuTalks conference is “I GET TO.” So many of us think and say “I have to,” but what if we changed our mindset. What if we get to share our story? What if we get to be imperfect? What if we get to learn about how God created us to do His work? What if we used His perspective to walk through the challenges of our lives? These are the questions we’ll share through stories and four interactive workshops.
Speakers and Breakout Group Leaders
Pastor of Mosaic church and author of Ex-Muslim
Naeem Fazal is the founding pastor of Mosaic Church. He was born and raised as a Muslim in Kuwait and came to the United States in 1990, shortly after the Gulf War. In 1992 Naeem had a supernatural experience with Christ that changed the course of his life, and in 1998 he joined the pastoral staff of Seacoast Church where he led several ministries over a period of 8 years. In 2006, with the help of Seacoast Church (make link) and ARC (make link), Naeem and Ashley planted Mosaic Church in Charlotte, NC. He is the author of Ex-Muslim and is a sought-after speaker for conferences, churches and events. He and Ashley have two amazing children, Asher and Nurah.
When Tim was 16 years old he started volunteering within the community’s local Emergency Services. He became an Emergency Medical Technician by the age of 18, and a paramedic by the age of 23. In 1996 he started working with Mecklenburg EMS Agency, commonly known as MEDIC. This is where his beloved career would end tragically. In January 2003, while working a minor accident on a local interstate, a tractor-trailer slammed into the scene. Tim’s legs were severed above his knees. Tim has completely recovered and now shares his story of faith and triumph around the world.

Kristan’s life screeched to a halt and then veered in a new direction when catastrophic illness struck. What began as the flu and strep throat turned into pneumonia and a life-threatening condition called septic shock. After 100 days, a medically-induced coma, six hospitals, and a miracle; she survived. Today she lives as a triple amputee, with her remaining foot missing the toes and heel. She has also become a motivational and faith-building speaker, blogger, and writer.
I live in Denver, NC, with my husband Ryan and my boys, Nathan and Zachary. And I live with a cat. I don’t like the cat. I work as a CAD engineer at a start-up electrical engineering firm in Huntersville, NC, and I garden and exercise run away from home to stay sane. Jesus is my above-all-else.
Mental Health Counselor
As a Christian counselor, I believe whole heartedly that true and lasting change comes from looking at the whole system, not just one part. I work with clients to bring about transformation through emotional healing, behavioral change, brain health, spiritual encouragement, and social support. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety, and/or eating disorders, pre-marital and marital counseling, and educating clients on brain health.
